Golden Wedding Anniversary

This event honors all who have or will have achieved 50 years of marriage during the year of the celebration. The next two celebrations will honor those who were married in 1959 and 1960. The director of the program interviews the couples on stage to encourage them to relate those special moments of how they met and how they decided to marry. A minister, priest, deacon or rabbi is invited to lead the couples in a renewal of their marriage vows. All who are in the audience who are married longer than 50 years are invited to join in the renewal. The honored couples then lead a dance. Snacks are provded. Entrance is free to all. Relative and friends of the honored couples are especially invited. This is a family affair. This event is scheduled to fall on the closest Tuesday to St. Valentine's day, check the Event Schedule page for the time and date. Call event director Sheila Lauer for details, 407 892-5011.
Senior Prom

The Senior Prom is another more formal event. The theme is usually "Under the Stars". It is held late in February on a Friday evening. There is dancing from 7:00 PM through 10:00 PM. We encourage attendees to bring snacks, finger food or a covered dish. A $2.50 donation is requested. Ther are no advance reservations. Check the Event Schedule page.
Queen's Ball

The City of St. Cloud holds a Christmas Parade on the first Saturday of December. On the Friday before the parade, the Christmas tree in front of City Hall is lighted. On the Thursday before the parade a senior queen is chosen from a number of contestants. She participates in both the tree lighting and the parade. In the past queens were chosen based on talent or as a reward for long service to the Senior Center.
Judging for Queen is now based on poise, personality and stage presence. There is no entry fee for the contest or door fees for those attending the "Fun" event. Many prizes are awarded to the Queen and her court, as well as free Special Drawings for the audience. Light refreshments are served and music for dancing is provided. Dress: casual to evening wear...your choice.
There is no admission donation. A short dance set and then refreshments follow the crowning of the new queen.
Candidates are sponsored by the Senior Center clubs. Contact Irene Lamano 407 847-0049 for an application or pick one up from the front desk of the Senior Center.
