The Silver Clouds Senior Chorus

The chorus has met for rehearsals and performed in programs at the Senior Center since about 1963. The group was started by Clarice Young. Ruth Fisher was the director for the longest time, 20 years. Leroy Bolden was successor to Ruth, and Carol Van Valkenburg was successor to Leroy. The current director is Dr. Tony Buchanan.

The group welcomes new members of all ages. The ability to read music is helpful.

The chorus performs patriotic, seasonal, religious music and songs from the 30's, 40's and 50's. On Tuesday February 16, 2010 the Silver Clouds Chorus will combine with the Silver Clouds Community Orchestra for a concert with a patriotic theme.

Claudia Bolden is the accompanist, with occasional flute solos from Marsha Harris, and boogie piano solos by Naida Thomas.

Rehearsals are Wednesday afternoon from 3:30 to 5:30 PM. Rehearsals are suspended from the spring concert in April until October. There are also dress rehearsals on the Saturday or Sunday before a Tuesday performance.

Old Time Blue Grass Gang

This is an eight person group that specialize in blue grass music. They are available to play at assisted living facilities. They rhearse at the Annex on the every Friday, all year, from 6:00 to 10:00 PM. All are welcome to come to listen. Refreshments are served. Call Oakly Brannon at 407 348-4278 for more information.
